For home bakers
Online Ordering for Home Bakers
Cookie drops, cake orders, brownie boxes, sourdough, pastries and dessert boxes — take the orders first, then bake the batch you've actually sold.
Baking to a guess is expensive
Bake too much and it goes in the bin. Bake too little and you're apologising to regulars. Between those two is a Thursday night spent counting messages to work out how many dozen you promised.
What home bakers run on FirstBatch
- Weekly or fortnightly cookie drops with a set number of boxes.
- Cake orders with pickup times chosen by the customer.
- Brownie and dessert boxes with limited quantities.
- Sourdough and bread bakes where the loaf count has to be right.
- Pastry preorders for a weekend pickup window.
- Seasonal and holiday boxes released as one-off batches.
The real bakery workflow
- 1Post the drop on Instagram and share your FirstBatch link.
- 2Customers preorder and pay online in AUD.
- 3Orders close at the time you set.
- 4FirstBatch totals every product into a bake list.
- 5You bake exactly those quantities.
- 6Customers collect in their pickup slot and you tick them off.
Your bake list, counted for you
When orders close, FirstBatch adds up quantities rather than orders — two boxes in one order count as two. Cancelled and refunded orders drop out automatically, so the number you bake to is the number that was actually paid for. You can tap any product to see which customers are behind the total.
Common questions
How do I take orders for my home bakery?+
Open a batch for a set window, share your FirstBatch link, and let customers choose and pay online. When orders close you bake to the totals FirstBatch has already counted.
Can I run the same drop every week?+
Yes. Duplicate a batch and the products, photos, descriptions and prices come with it — you only change the dates and quantities.
What if something sells out mid-week?+
Each product has its own quantity limit. Once it's reached, the storefront shows it as sold out and customers can't order more of it.
Do I need a food business licence?+
Requirements depend on your council and what you sell — often council notification or registration, food safety training and compliant labelling. Check with your local council or food authority before you start selling.
